THE STORY:
Image CAPTCHAs emerged out of the need to address a critical issue on the internet: distinguishing between genuine human users and automated computer programs, often referred to as bots.
The DRAUP team began on the CAPTCHA pants by selecting wide-legged styles from the early 2000s (the years that the first CAPTCHAs were developed). We then pulled 23 images of pants—some photos and some fakes, some hot dogs and some legs—to serve as the print. Of the 23 images, 11 were made using AI, whilst the remaining 12 were pulled from internet archives.
Who knew reality could get this weird? And that clothes could be the answer to preserving man’s intelligence?
